The Right Flooring For Your Kitchen

flooringWhen we think of our kitchen floor, its not something we normally think of in terms of the most beautiful thing in our home.  We spill on it, drag things acrossed it, and ultimately abuse the floor.  When you get ready to remodel your kitchen, this is something you need to think about when you decide what flooring you want. It dies the entire design of your kitchen together as well as being the most trafficked room in your home.

Your kitchen floor needs to be highly durable, yet pretty to look at.  If you have kids, you know how you need your floor to be water resistant and still keep its shine.  But if you just throw something down without looking at the rest of the room, your design can be garbled and end up looking like a complete mess.

What To Think About:

Like the last paragraph above stated, you have a lot to consider when choosing your new flooring.  Your theme has to match, so you cant have a glass tiled floor in a rustic wooden setting.  Make sure your floor matches the theme you have in mind and you will be just fine.  If you have pets AND children, then this flooring needs to be the toughest floor in your home.  It has to be able to withstand pet messes as well as dragged in dirt, mud and grass stains. You need to make sure your floor is durable and water resistant to help make spills easier to pick up.

For this reason, laminate, tile and vinyl flooring are well suited for the active family in your kitchen.  You should consider these styles because they need little to no maintenance and can easily be cleaned if your child spills juice all over the place, or that school science fair project got a little out of control.  If you live alone, consider laminate or vinyl as well. They are more affordable and easier to take care of than more expensive flooring types.

Choosing your pattern of vinyl or tile is really up to you. You need to make sure this flooring matches the rest of your theme again, so choose the pattern that will look great with the colors on your walls or linens.

Make sure whatever you choose is unique to you.  You need to make sure you choose the best flooring for your kitchen’s personality that stands up to whatever your family throws its way.
