Ice Cube Trays – More Ways to Use Them
Do you think that automatic ice makers available today have completely replaced plastic ice cube trays? Even though if you own an automatic ice maker, there are still more ways to use ice cube trays than just for making ice. Many sauces and liquids can be frozen and later used for cooking or household cleaning. Here are some ideas how to save your money and time by using ice cube trays.
Tomato paste is from time to time a necessary ingredient to thicken up some of your favorite soup or sauce. Even the smallest cans are usually too much and one ice cube would be perfect dosage. So, open a smaller can, fill your trays and freeze until cubes become solid. Pop them out into a bag, label it and store in your freezer. Next time you need tomato paste, pop one cube into the sauce until it melts. If you don’t know how much cubes you should add when cooking something, it goes approximately like this: one standard sized cube equals 2 tbs, 2 cubes are equal to 1/4 cup etc.
Do you like frozen coffee? Here’s what you can do. Fill ice cube tray with your favorite flavored creamer and freeze it. Make your hot coffee and put one cube into it. It’s not the same like frozen coffee, but it’s similar. Also, if you have your coffee with sugar, put some sugar into the creamer before freezing the creamer cubes.
What about Mimosa? If you prefer it, fill ice tray with Champagne and freeze it. When you want to have a refreshing Mimosa, add cubes to the orange juice. Cheers!
